Category: seminar, systemic risk, war on Ukraine
We are delighted to invite you to an online seminar ‘Russia war on Ukraine – a black swan of the global systemic risk?’ to be held on October 27, at 5.30 p.m. We will be joined by three eminent speakers: Dr Miguel Centeno from the Department of Sociology, Princeton University, Mr Edwin Bendyk, President of the Batory Foundation and Dr. Paweł Marczewski from the Batory Foundation.
The purpose of the seminar will be to discuss primary areas of global disruption inflicted by the war in Ukraine and seek possible ways of building resilience to future ‘black swan events. We will be particularly interested in identifying the areas of academic inquiry that will be essential in meeting such challenges. We will discuss the global effects of the war in the context of historical systemic failures of similar nature. We will define systemic risk, the disturbance of the basic mechanisms of social, economic, and political stability, and address its interdisciplinary character.
Check your time zone if you live outside Poland.
The panel will last for 1.5 hours, with an hour of dialogue and a 0.5 h Q&A session, and will be moderated by profs. Marek Konarzewski and Marek Trippenbach.
Our seminar is the first from a series of events “UAM-UW-UJ_Promujemy badania transdziedzinowe” jointly organized by Adam Mickiewicz University, University of Warsaw and Jagiellonian University to foster multidisciplinary research and education.
